Originally hailing from Wisconsin, William Z Villain is a cat lover, and organic farmer in his free time. He plays music with a varied panel of influences such as rebetiko, Afro-Cuban sounds and blues. Six years ago, he had the good fortune to acquire a white National Resonator guitar, thanks to the funds of a great aunt who is no longer with us. This guitar was modified to support 8 strings. Author of the bona de hit „Anybody Gonna Move” (Playlisted on France Inter, France’s biggest national radio), this American musician then embarked on a sold-out tour throughout France and won the hearts of his audiences thanks to 60 countrywide, in 2017, including a gig on Record store Day, broadcast once again on France Inter, together with The Divine Comedy.
Another national station, FIP (proclaimed best radio in the world by Twitter CEO) released a document featuring the ideal discography, list which included Serge Gainsbourg, Bjork, Nick Cave, Portishead, Mile Davis and…William Z Villain, who was described in the following way: „…the young guitarist and singer from Wisconsin has made it big thanks to the tenacity of French label, Normandeep Blues, who released this remarkable debut at the beginning of 2017…. Sleek, yet ring on all senses, these ten songs illustrate the vision of the world held by this young twenty-six-year-old, who, thanks to this rst, regal, album, has left an indelible trace.”
