White began listening intently to music, mainly blues, in his early teens and he soon developed a passion for amongst others Son House, Robert Johnson and Blind Willie McTell, all of whom became prominent influences on his music and that of the White Stripes.
But Jacks influences stretch far wider than just the music of the devil, and this collection provides a far reaching selection of the compelling forces who informed his own sound. In addition to the blues giants mentioned comes country from Loretta Lynn, Hank Williams and Patti Page, early punk from MC5 and The Stooges, Rock N Roll from Wanda Jackson and Gene Vincent, and Surf guitar music from Dick Dale, all artists whom Jack has spoken highly of and who have been so important in his development.
