Reed toured the album across the US between March and May 89 – with the assistance of Rob Wasserman on bass, Robert Medici on drums and Mike Rathke on guitar – before taking the show to Europe. On most nights the set featured a live performance of the majority of the LP in near consecutive order.
On 22nd April Lou played the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, a performance which was the subject of a live FM broadcast by local radio – the results of which can now be heard on this CD.
Featuring 10 of New Yorks 14 cuts, plus a smattering of oldies and a somewhat unusual choice of cover in Ol Blue Eyes One For My Baby – this recording is a delightful artifact for fans of the late Lou Reed and a nice reminder of what this often misrepresented albeit legendary artist was capable of.
