Recorded over a period of 10 days in August 1969 and released on 10th October of the same year ‘In The Court Of The Crimson King’ stands as one of the defining albums of British rock music and one of the finest debut albums of all time. For this edition the tape transfers have been made from the (then recently rediscovered) original studio Master tapes, transferred direct & without any additional EQ by renowned mastering engineer Simon Heyworth.
This combination of the first generation master tapes, improved technology for the playback/transfer of analogue tapes & high bit rate digital encoding of the music provides an edition that sounds as close as it is possible to get on a standard compact disc to the sound the musicians heard & approved at the time of the album’s completion.
This CD master was approved by King Crimson founder Robert Fripp.
