Progressive black metal band originating from the village of Luster in Norway.
The band was formed by Mithrin, Gorbag and guitarist X in 1996 under the name Utumno, but changed names to Emancer prior to the debut album „Utopian Illusions” in 2001.
Emancer is an Extreme Metal band from Norway with four full length albums released world-wide so far. Emancer has evolved from an old-school Black Metal band in its early years to a progressive band with visions and variations unlike most bands on the planet. The music has often been described as „progressive”, „extreme”, „futuristic”, „industrial” and „avant-garde”. Words can never fully describe music, though – some music just speaks for itself.
