The new [DARYL] album, THE WASTED CASUALTIES, was produced and mixed by Grammy Award winner Stuart Sikes (White Stripes, Cat power, The Promise Ring), who previously produced their 4th album, ‘Ohio’. The band had just finished working on their first record since 2006, I DREAM ALONE, when another wave of inspiration hit and the band decided to write and record a companion album, this time in a completely distinctive style and representing another side of the band’s sound and influences.
Musically, THE WASTED CASUALTIES combines [DARYL]’s love of 80’s synths mixed with catchy, ferocious punk rock guitars, filtered through hazy layers of the Neon Age’s films and music. If John Hughes and John Carpenter made a movie together, [DARYL] would be the soundtrack. The album features dueling lead and backup vocals from Mike Wiebe (The Riverboat Gamblers, Drakulas) on the track ’No More Secrets’.
