After his time with Miles Davis, Chick Corea was responsible for two iconic fusion ensembles: Return To Forever & the Chick Corea Elektric Band. This performance captures the second incarnation of the Elektric Band, touring in support of the album „Light Years” (1987) with new members saxophonist Eric Marienthal and guitarist Frank Gambale joining bassist John Patitucci and drummer Dave Weckl. The tunes presented are straight ahead, the sounds are sweet, the soloing is virtuosic. The band generate a lot of energy and very little dissonance, which, after his time with Miles’ dark early 1970s fusion, is how Chick liked it.
