Caina’s first full-length album since 2011’s „Hands That Pluck” strips all remaining flesh from the carcass of the „post-black metal” wave, leaving only the bones with which the narrative’s antagonists set about beating you to death with. Despite its succinct, hardcore-influenced format, „Setter of Unseen Snares” remains as atmospheric as any of its predecessors, due to the stellar production work of Nö Studio, and its final crescendo one might describe as „crushing” or „incandescent” if one were to write in tired clichés.
