Asaf Avidan presents his new album „Gold Shadow”, which is even more introspective than his previous works. Avidan sings about failed relationships. It sounds darker than usual. With his poetic lyrics and stylistically confident musical realization, he adds new facets to his view of interpersonal relationships. He lends beauty to the dark moments of love.
Asaf Avidan’s trademark is his extraordinary falsetto voice, which he once again uses dominantly on „Gold Shadow”. It sounds hoarse and androgynous. His voice and sound are therefore often compared to Janis Joplin and occasionally to Robert Plant. You have to like his voice, but if you do, then you’ll really enjoy the new album.
