VIRUS were one of the pioneers of British Thrash Metal. Formed in 1986 by H Heston and Tez Kaylor, members of the punk/oi! band Criminal Damage. They brought in John D Hess in their forming year and called on the services of Coke Finlay in 1987.
At the start 2010 Virus lost Dave Sherwood and Matt Cooper, they were replaced by Paul James and Darren (Rusty) Rust, both from the covers band Headbangers although Rusty was the guitarist of South London hardcore outfit „Sigil” he was a very competent drummer playing in the very brutal „Semi Automatic Hate Machine”, the line up was completed in that year by Scott Lauzon (Septic Discharge).
After a string of European dates in 2011/2012 (Malaga, Spain Oslo, Norway Sofia, Bulgaria) and a third slot on the 2nd stage at Hammerfest 2012, The Bulldog Bash 2012, and 2 shows supporting D.R.I. Scott left the ranks of VIRUS. The current line-up shows the band to be a very integral part of the thrash genre today..”a force to be reckoned with.” – (Metal Hammer -England Sept 2012).
