Up Front was a hardcore band from New York. They were an influential part of the late 1980s New York hardcore and Connecticut Straight Edge scenes.
UP FRONT were an influential part of the late 1980’s straight edge hardcore movement in NY and CT that helped pave the way for the third generation of straight edge hardcore bands. They played many of their early shows at the now famous Anthrax Club in Norwalk, CT. Spirit is the classic LP from 1988 which was followed by a summer tour in 1989 with UNIT PRIDE, INSTED, and GORILLA BISCUITS. The LP quickly sold through three consecutive pressings through late 1989. Pressed on green vinyl + MP3 Digital download.
Most hardcore bands barely last a few years, & have a revolving door of band members. Up Front has managed to last over 25 years (part-time for the last 20 years), & with the exception of a few changes early on, the lineup has remained intact. Up Front‘s latest shows were in 2005, 2009 & 2010, drawing their set list from early releases like the Spirit LP through their last 7″ released in 1999.
