In early 1996, The Wedding Present released „Mini” via Cooking Vinyl Records, an EP with six tracks whose songs were all related to motorized driving. Almost thirty years later, David Gedge has taken up this concept again! „Maxi” contains six more tracks whose titles/content all relate to this theme.
„Maxi” is released via Clue Records and follows shortly after the release of 40 – the compilation that reflects The Wedding Present’s complex and intriguing catalog in a four vinyl and/or four CD box set. The final track on the compilation is „Hot Wheels” – a song that is now also available on Maxi, along with five other tracks. Although Maxi follows the same concept as „Mini” (1996), The Wedding Present 2025 sounds much bigger.
This is truly a band at their most creative, pushing the boundaries of both their own style/sound and the listener’s expectations, while the lyrics paint pictures in a provocative way that only David Gedge can.
