The Nerves were an influential mid-1970s American power pop trio renowned for their high-energy rock ‘n’ roll, DIY work ethic, and for writing the original version of the classic hit „Hanging on the Telephone.” Formed in San Francisco in 1974, the band later relocated to L.A., where they became central figures in the emerging Southern California punk and New Wave scenes before disbanding in 1978.
