The Belgian Blue is an international indie-folk and Americana band based in Vienna, Austria, originally formed by buskers including Irish lead singer Pádraig Mac Mahon and American banjo players. Their music blends traditional Celtic and Appalachian folk instrumentation with contemporary storytelling. Started as a busking duo/trio on the streets of Vienna before expanding into a dynamic five-piece group. Combines acoustic guitars, banjos, subtle percussion, and warm vocal harmonies. Known for intimate, n)arrative lyricism and high-energy live shows.
Gained prominent local and regional traction in the Austrian indie scene, playing venues and festivals like the Blue Bird Festival. Supported major acts like The Swell Season (Glen Hansard) at the Vienna Konzerthaus.
