The next in the series of the Talk Talk half-speed masters will be the band’s third studio album The Colour Of Spring, which celebrates its 40th anniversary. Cut at half-speed by Matt Colton at Metropolis Studios, overseen by the band’s drummer Lee Harris and Charlie Hollis, son of frontman Mark Hollis. The album shows the band’s progression from their synth-pop roots of The Party’s Over and It’s My Life, more towards their improvisation-based work and provided the foundation of them producing their pioneering sound in their next album Spirit Of Eden.
The third studio album from Talk Talk, originally released in 1986 and is commonly viewed as a bridge between their earlier, synthesized pop sound and their later, more improvised-based, work. The album went on to become Talk Talk’s greatest commercial success, spawning the hit singles Life’s What You Make It and Living in Another World and reaching the top 20 in multiple countries, including the UK where it reached #8 and stayed in the UK charts for 21 weeks. Certified Gold in Canada, Netherlands and the UK.
