What makes „Irregular” particularly captivating is how Subconscious manage to channel their obvious Death influences without falling into the trap of mindless worship. Sure, you can hear Chuck Schuldiner’s DNA in their approach to songwriting and technical execution, but these guys have developed their own voice within that framework. The addition of guest solos from Rodrigo Blattert (Saidian), Andreas Weßlowski (Crystal Crow), and Alexander Kübler adds another layer of complexity to an already dense musical tapestry. Even Nuclear Blast Magazine acknowledged that while these musicians clearly spent time studying Death‘s catalog, they’ve still managed to carve out their own distinctive path through the technical death metal landscape.
