Belfast punks’ second album expanded. Nobody’s Heroes was the Belfast band’s first album for Chrysalis and the first to feature the classic SLF line-up of Jake Burns (guitar and vocals), Henry Cluney (guitar), Ali McMordie (bass) and new drummer Jim Reilly. Expectations were high following the classic debut, 1979’s Inflammable Material, but tracks such as the single ‘Gotta Gettaway’ and SPECIALS cover ‘Doesn’t Make It Alright’ helped it reach No 8 in the UK chart.
Released in 1980, the album saw the band transition from the raw punk of their debut toward a more polished sound influenced by reggae and ska. It remains a definitive political statement of the era, featuring anthems like „Tin Soldiers” and „At the Edge” that tackle themes of forced patriotism and individual defiance.
