Sky Valley Mistress are Kayley Davies and Max Newsomeist and they’re back, more opulent than ever. Pilot Kayley „Hell Kitten” Davies and Commander Max „Leather Messiah” Newsome take us into a new sonic stratosphere, arguably fueled by 70s hard rock, but the end of the journey will be an entirely new place.
Kayley’s soulful, smoky voice with its soaring, delicate and haunting melodies guides us through hypnotic desert rock rhythms and monolithic riffs, while the band explores the highs and lows of dynamics and tempo with unheard guitars, vintage organs, real orchestras and even a children’s choir. Blending influences from Queens of the Stone Age with Portishead, SVM shift from Spiritualized-esque gospel choruses to the dark heavy swing of Black Sabbath in a sound that’s as fast as light to launch a modern classic into orbit and is entirely their own.
The album proves that the duo refuse to ask permission anywhere when producing an album to rival some of the most monumental albums in rock history. The band’s intention behind the creation of Luna Mausoleum was for it to be bigger and beyond reason.
