First of all the 24 bit remastered is truly amazing, I have the LP and everything on the LP cover is on the CD cover, but the sound comes alive on this remastered 24 bit version. Duncan and Valenti were headed with a full band with big organ and horns and with Duncan wailing with the wah wah pedal, soaring leads. Duncan was doing more writing and the songs were really rocking, die hard psychedelic fans wont like this one, but I can see Duncan and Valenti were moving into a more fuller sound, with lots of organ and just plain rocking. No there is no John Cipollina, no need for his style here, and of course Duncan always was overlooked when he did most of the great leads anyway, and here his style shines through, you dont miss Cipollina. Quicksilver got around to making „Comin’ Thru,” the band had evolved into a blues-rock ensemble of considerable sophistication. „Comin’ Thru” was the last Quicksilver Messenger Service album released in 1972. The album features the band’s legendary guitar sound, but the band adds bluesy organ and a full horn section to give the songs a driving, complex sound.
