After a 13-year hiatus from fronting the band, Big Sky, Steve Louw returned to recording with ‘Headlight Dreams,’ the first of what followed – 2022’s ‘Thunder & Rain,’ 2024’s ‘Between Time,’ and now his fourth solo album release within five years, ‘Traces Of The Flood.’
Steve Louw is a legendary South African singer-songwriter and guitarist, blending album rock, blues rock, country rock, and Americana. Active since the early 1980s, he first made waves with All Night Radio before fronting Big Sky (1990–2008), a band that cemented his reputation as one of South Africa’s most influential rock voices. He returned in 2021 as a solo artist with Headlight Dreams, featuring Joe Bonamassa, followed by Thunder & Rain (2022) and Between Time (2024). His latest, Traces of the Flood (2026), is a ten-track journey produced by long-time collaborator Kevin Shirley (Bonamassa, Black Country Communion, Beth Hart, Joanne Shaw Taylor). From heartfelt lyrics to soaring guitar lines, Steve Louw’s music celebrates the spirit of South African rock, rich storytelling, and enduring collaboration.
