Ivory were a psych rock band from California USA and they released just this one album back in their active period. Belonging to the Jefferson Airplane school with good male and female vocals, snazzy fuzz outbursts and distinctive keyboards (what was lacking to JA…). IVORY‘S self titled album was originally released in 1968 on the new Tetragrammaton Records label which was in California and unfortunately it sank without a trace. Nevertheless, this album is great, with a West Coast tinged psychedelic sound much in the vein of Jefferson Airplane (in fact it was produced by the Airplane’s producer himself, Al Schmitt) and was fueled by ultra-loud fuzz guitar, organ and beautiful female vocals. File next to other obscure psych bands like Yankee Dollar, Peanut Butter Conspiracy, Neighborhood Children, Art Of Lovin’, January Tyme, Fort Mudge Memorial Dump and Insect Trust.
