From Psychedelia To Sonnets – A Life In Words And Music: The Remarkable Journey Of Ashley Hutchings. An opportunity to listen to Ashley tell the stories behind his writings, add detail to the history of the bands he has created and describe some of his many projects.
How does one sum up the rich and varied career of a major figure in English roots music? Along the way Ashley Hutchings MBE has been founder of Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span, The Albion Band and a musical director at the National Theatre.
He has worked with many of the key figures in roots music as well. These include Chris While, Julie Matthews, Phil Beer, Simon Care, Ken Nicol, Polly Bolton, Joe Broughton… etc (it’s a very long list).
