At times reminiscent of Nick Cave and other times industrial, Holy Cow uses music to expel the darkness within through their latest release appropriately titled „Purge”. Their sound is always driven by a depthful bass line accompanying the sometimes melodic and sometimes screeching (a la Bauhaus) guitars. The drums kick in with some rhythm tracks and then… Chris‘ rich vocals tear at your soul creating an intensity that very few other bands can match. The stand out track off of „Purge” is track 8 called „Random”. It combines soaring Nick Cave vocals, Spanish Flamenco guitars, and Indian tribal samples creating a masterpiece. If you want the full effect (as no CD could possibly contain them!), go to see Holy Cow live if given the chance. Their stage presence dwarfs many well-known acts and turns everyone lucky enough to be there into a convert of the Holy Cow!
