John Richard Handy III (born February 3, 1933, in Dallas, Texas) is an American jazz musician most commonly associated with the alto saxophone, although he also plays tenor and baritone saxophone, saxello, clarinet and oboe, and sings.
It is impossible to categorizer the playing together of John Handy, David Friesen, Nandit Prakash Maharaj, Vikash Maharaj and Guenther Paust. Endeavor to melt the musicians together as many as possible elements from Indian classical music, new age music and minimal and jazz from different styles. Saxophone player John Handy has worn coats of many cultures throughout his long prolific career, changing them almost as often as a chameleon changes its hues.
