„The Way We Were Vol. 2” continues the successful archive series and presents 17 previously unreleased demo recordings that Francis Rossi personally selected from his archive.
Among them are five songs that have never before been heard outside the studio, as well as early versions of tracks that later appeared on Status Quo’s “Heavy Traffic” (2002), “The Party Ain’t Over Yet” (2005), “In Search Of The Fourth Chord” (2007), and “Quid Pro Quo” (2011), on Francis Rossi’s solo album “One Step At A Time” (2010), and on the collaborative album “We Talk Too Much” (2019) by Rossi/Rickard. These recordings capture the original ideas, arrangements, melodies, and lyrics, offering a fascinating glimpse into the creative process of one of Britain’s most significant rock musicians and songwriters.
Francis Rossi says: “Some ideas, sketches, and demos don’t survive long enough to become a finished song—and the reasons for that aren’t always clear. I could listen to these recordings for hours, and that’s why I want to find out if others feel the same way. That’s why I’m releasing this album series. Once you’ve written a song, it exists. And it will always exist.”
