A The Fatback Band (később Fatback) egy 1970-ben alapított, funk-disco és R&B zenét játszó NEW YORK-i együttes, mely napjainkban is aktív. Legnagyobb népszerűségüknek az 1970-es évek közepétől az 1980-as évek elejéig örvendtek.
The house that founder Bill Curtis built, the Fatback Band (or just plain Fatback as they became in 1982), has sometimes been a 6-piece and sometimes anything up to a 9-piece band. Their records for Spring and Event are classics of the 70s and ’80s dance scene, packed with „party” atmosphere, undoubtedly aided by the „live” feel that the band induced by always having an audience at their recording sessions. „On The Floor” came out in 1982, and contains the R&B hits „On The Floor” (1 weeks on the chart, peaking at No 36) and „She’s My Shining Star” (5 weeks on the chart, peaking at No 76). Now available as a mid-price release.
