King For A Day…Fool For A Lifetime (to give it it’s full title) was the 1995 follow-up to Angel Dust and was the band’s first album without longtime guitarist Jim Martin. His departure had an influence on the direction of the album, something which keyboardist Roddy Bottum acknowledges in the new sleeve notes:
„As a result, we wrote and recorded some of our most radical, out there songs, like Cuckoo For Caca and Ugly In The Morning, some of our mellowest like Take This Bottle, Caralho Voador and then some or our most high-drama, like Just A Man.”
The two-disc deluxe includes the remastered album plus a CD of bonus tracks including B-sides Spanish Eyes and Absolute Zero, as well as the band’s cover of the Bee Gee’s „I Started A Joke”, (another B-side that became a single in 1998).
