After experiencing the hopeful highs and deep lows of an all-consuming previous relationship, the West London-based Musician is more confident than ever, both about her worth as a person and her future as an artist. Proof of this is her tender new album ‘Chuck’: a record that doesn’t shy away from sadness, but also makes a statement, taking Eleni’s sonic palette into richer new territory as she finds enlightenment and growth in the wreckage. Recorded at Voltaire Studios in Stockwell, it was the first time she had ventured out of her home studio. She recruited a whole host of musicians to realize her vision and brought producer Frank Colucci (Rose Gray, Sea Girls) on board to assist her behind the mixing desk. It seems the perfect time for Eleni to take this step.
Named after the romantic lead character in Pushing Daisies, „Chuck” alludes in part to the uncertainty of the relationship at its center. Together, the tracks on „Chuck” paint a surprisingly human portrait of love and pain, and how these two states can be connected in the most disarming and sometimes destructive ways. But the album also stands with both feet firmly on the ground, creating a nurturing musical world in which to immerse oneself and find solace; a world that, like its creator, recognizes that – slowly but surely – all will be well.
