Formed in 1976, Detective signed to Led Zeppelin’s Swan Song label with the self titled album „Detective.” The second album „It Takes One to Know One” remains an exciting, agitated album, one of the best of the 1970’s. This is aristocratic music with a spitting, gutter ball philosophy. Released in 1977 on Led Zeppelin’s Swan Song Records, It Takes One To Know One found Detective pushing their swaggering hard rock even further, with frontman Michael Des Barres and former Yes keyboardist Tony Kaye at the helm. Blending muscular riffs, blues-soaked grooves, and a touch of glam, the album cemented the band’s reputation as one of Swan Song’s fiercest signings. This limited edition reissue is pressed on lavender vinyl, newly remastered by Dave Gardner, and packaged with updated artwork plus a fold-out insert. A long-overlooked gem of 1970s rock, finally back in print with the care it deserves.
