1960s Garage Rock, 1960s Pop/Folk Rock, Psychedelic Rock, Psych Revival,
CD kiadvány, 2026-os album.

The Crystal Teardrop’s first album, THE CRYSTAL TEARDROP IS FORMING, came out on Rise Above Records’ subsidiary Popclaw in May 2025. Steeped in classic psychedelic guitar pop and the Paisley Underground scene, not to mention the broader 1960s cultural aesthetic, it has made them firm favourites with audiences in the UK and Europe. Now, barely a year later, comes its infectious follow-up, LOVE YOU MORE, also on Popclaw. It’s an intoxicating brew of jangling guitars and electric sitar (from Leon Jones), swirling organ (from Stuart Gray) and tight grooves (courtesy of bassist Ed Quigley and drummer Huw Woodward), with Alexandra Roses trademark Vox Teardrop and pure voice floating above it all.

“Leon and I put forward material that plays to our individual strengths, but our music is collaborative and shaped by our experience of playing together on the road,” – she explains. Touring the UK and Europe has made the group tighter, and able to carry their stage rapport into the studio recordings. “We are particularly inspired by the musical and lyrical complexity of Love’s first three albums,” – Alexandra continues. “Our recent tour with Love featuring Johnny Echols has only reinforced just how much we’ve been influenced by them.”

“We all share a love for late 1960s material – the Beatles and the Byrds, of course, but on this album we’re particularly influenced by the folk-rock harmonies of Jefferson Airplane, the Peanut Butter Conspiracy and the Leaves as they progressed from garage to psychedelia and acid rock, mixing psychedelic sounds and hallucinogenic lyrics.” The songs on LOVE YOU MORE are fundamentally upbeat, but there are hard edges, both musically (check out the guitar solo on It’s Too Late!) and lyrically. Their words touch on relationships, politics and life itself, culminating in the deep psych jamming on Touch The Sun, which Alexandra says “questions the meaning of human existence”.

Asked to comment on each track, she says: “Love You More is a song of love and loss, with an overwhelming sense that something has ended, but offering the hope of a new beginning. „Tomorrow Starts Today” finds the narrator taking control of their destiny, and has a Byrdsian-rock / garage vibe. „Times Are Gone” highlights what’s truly important in relationships, inspired by our love of that jangly San Fran sound. Outside Looking In is a summery plea for changes to be made to prevent a parting of ways. It’s Too Late is no-nonsense garage rock, inspired by our tour supporting the Pandoras and our love for the Girls In The Garage comps. Circumstances features a hazy, dreamlike meeting and its unforeseen consequences.”

If I’m Right is a plea to work things out and follow your instincts to get it together, and takes inspiration from Rubber Soul and Revolver. „Room Without A View” hints at a trip through the doors of perception, and was written to showcase the band’s instrumental versatility. What It Adds Up To is all about taking back control in a relationship, and is inspired by observations of infidelity. „Thoughts You’re Thinking” is an uplifting folk-rock love story with a positive, summery vibe. „The Eleventh Hour” has a garage feel and a political edge, mixing 1966 with 2026. Finally, „Touch The Sun” is a psychedelic trip that allows us to really stretch out.”

Remarkably for 2026, LOVE YOU MORE was recorded live in the studio, with the intention of capturing an authentic feel and atmosphere, with as little overdubbing as possible. “As with our first album, we used sixties instruments – Rickenbackers, Vox, Hammond organ, AC15s – and production techniques, but this time we experimented with more instruments, such as tanpura and swarmandal, drawing on our love for Eastern instrumentation and raga rock,” – she says.
