This is a really odd mixture of different styles, one part absolutely touching upon Pagan shores in the vein of PRIMORDIAL just to change over to something completely different. Swedish COLOSSUS is listed as Progressive Stoner/Sludge Metal and no matter how contradictive this might seem, it is actually very true.
During the first spins, you can think of another odd Swedish band, ENTER THE HUNT, just because of the complexity in the music and the really smooth vocal lines running over it and this is a very cool feature. Regarding the wide ranged influences we can also mention bands like OPETH, MASTODON and TOOL. It’s assumed that when playing this album while expecting Stoner or Sludge, you will be rather disappointed. The characteristics of these two genres are the grinding and repetitive riff-playing; sure, this is there only very well played and somewhat faster than normally expected (when it comes to Sludge at least).
