The guitar sounds more assured, the exchanges stretch out, the groove sinks deeper, almost hypnotic. Nothing is forced, everything held in check. Burrell builds a dense nocturnal mood, gives the soloists room to breathe, then tightens the frame. A mature, fluid record that confirms a vision and asserts it quietly, with fully assumed elegance.
