1976-ban alakultak meg a georgiai Athensben. Pályafutásuk alatt 7 stúdió lemezt jelentettek meg. A B-52’s a világ egyik leghíresebb új hullámos zenekarának számít. Leghíresebb számuk a „Rock Lobster”.
