New York was always the breeding ground of legendary hardcore and crossover bands in the mid 1980s, so it was no surprise that a new darker crossover sound should arise from there. Bands like SHEER TERROR, CRUMBSUCKERS and CARNIVORE combined the sound of New York hardcore with influences from extreme metal like CELTIC FROST and SLAYER. In the early ’90s a new wave of this darker crossover would be spearheaded by bands like MERAUDER, DARKSIDE NYC, and ALL OUT WAR!!!
