This 1970 studio-only album was created by a group of Tallahassee, Florida musicians, and has achieved cult-like status amongst collectors around the world; their music is very similiar to Van Morrison or Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young‘s „Deja Vu” album, with great harmonies, innovative keyboards & fantastic, spacey guitar riffs.
„After All” belongs to those „lesser brothers” of rock, whose claim to fame and glory went unnoticed and unanswered by the general audience. From the very beginning the chances of local act from Tallahassee, Florida, in the end of 60s were not very promissing – they were from too far away, and there were forced to compete with too many bigger names. „After All” were not self-taught half-illiterate rockers: Vietnam vet Mark Allerbee (drums) graduated from Florida State School of Music, and so did keyboardist Alan Gold.
Bill Moon (bass, vocals) and Charles Short (guitar) were seasoned musicians also, who played for many years with local rock- and jazz-bands. In 1969 looking for meaningful and sophisticated lyrics they recruited young local poete, Linda Hargrove (later became an established songwriter in Nashville), and made an attempt to produce an innovative concept album. The album was recorded within two days in Tennessee(without enough time for proper reheasals), and released the same year by small private label Athena Records.
