In honor of the 40th anniversary of David Lynch‘s 1986 masterpiece Blue Velvet, Varèse Sarabande is excited to present a new vinyl edition of Angelo Badalamenti’s music for the film. Lynch and Badalamenti, who both passed away in 2025 after decades as one of cinema’s most iconic creative collaborators, forged a singular sonic world from Twin Peaks to Mulholland Drive.
CODA, in partnership with Varese Sarabande, is pleased to present the original motion picture soundtrack to David Lynch’s 1986 masterpiece – Blue Velvet. Featuring the original film score by Angelo Badalamenti, along with Bobby Vinton’s chart topper „Blue Velvet”, “In Dreams” by Roy Orbison, “Love Letters” by Ketty Lester, and “Mysteries of Love” performed by Julee Cruise. On disc two is an extended program of film cues, alternates and outtakes collectively entitled „Lumberton Firewood”, raw orchestral sonorities to be edited and manipulated into sound design by the director. This 180g deluxe edition comes beautifully packaged with inner and outer printed sleeves and a custom transparent blue o-card. Stunningly designed by Alan Hynes and with all new original artwork by Greg Ruth. With liner notes by Tim Greiving and Greg Ruth.
