Future Islands are celebrating their 20th anniversary with „From a Hole in the Floor to a Fountain of Youth”, a special collection of rarities, alternative versions and fan favorites, many of which are available digitally for the first time. Instead of a classic best-of album, it shows the band’s development and artistic depth beyond their best-known moments.
The 20 songs reflect 20 years of band history – from early gigs in small clubs to a consolidated, timeless sound identity. The title is emblematic of this journey: from everyday life („Hole in the Floor”) to the realization of dreams („Fountain of Youth”). Musically, the band remains true to its style: driving bass lines, atmospheric synthesizers and the haunting vocals of Samuel T. Herring provide a common thread. Themes such as longing, love, transience and emotional memories run through the album.
