The debut album by Hamburg punk rockers But Alive‘s first LP in 1993 raised the bar to a whole new level from one day to the next in a West German punk scene that had become uninspired and cozy. 13 rocking, varied records and Marcus’ lyrics, characterized by cynicism, analysis and unbroken spirit. The first two But Alive records „Für uns nicht” (1993) and „Nicht zynisch werden?!” (1995) as reissues on the label B. A. Records by Marcus Wiebusch (Kettcar).
These classics of German-language punk/rock were not available for a full 26 years. After the release of their debut album „Für uns nicht”, the world was no longer the same for many politically interested music listeners. Rarely before had a band succeeded in dissecting and commenting on the country’s political situation in such a lyrical way. The Hamburg band quickly gained a huge fan base, who were all waiting for the second album „Nicht zynisch werden?!”, with which the band manifested their reputation as one of the best German-language punk bands.
